New Delhi: A delhi court has allowed the CBI( Central Bureau of Investigation) to close the case of najeeb ahmad, a JNU student who went missing in 2016.

Najeeb disappeared after a fight with some other students in his hostel. For nine years, the police and CBI searched for him. They checked CCTV cameras, questioned many people, and even announced a cash reward. But they could not find any clue about where he went.

The CBI filed a report saying they found no evidence and could not continue the investigation. The court accepted this report and closed the case. However, if any new information comes up, the case can be opened again.

Najeeb’s mother, Fatima Nafees, said she is unhappy with this decision. She believes the investigation was not done properly and has promised to keep fighting for justice.

Many students and activists have also criticised the way the case was handled. They say important questions were never answered, like what happened during Najeeb’s visit to Safdarjung Hospital and why there were no records.

For now, the case is closed, but the family still hopes to learn the truth someday.

JNU student Najeeb Ahmed went missing in October 2016.
